What caused America to go into the war?
Although there were many reasons that America went into World War II, the biggest reason was because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On December 7, 1941 at approximately 7:55 a.m. Hawaii time, Pearl Harbor was attacked. Approximately 360 Japanese war planes descended on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, and ended with a total destruction or damage of 5 out of 8 battleships, 3 destroyers, 7 other ships, and 200 aircrafts. Also, a total of 2,400 American citizens were killed and 1,200 were wounded. This surprise attack was predominately the reason for America entering WWII.
Who was in an alliance with whom?
During this war it was very important that your country had a lot of allies. It could potentially decide your country's fate. The countries that sought world domination were Germany, Italy, Japan, Austria, and Hungary. This alliance was better known as the Axis Powers. The Axis Powers and their leaders, Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito, would stop at nothing to gain total domination. However, the Allied Powers knew that they had to stop the Axis Powers. The Allied Powers consisted of the United States, Britain, Russia, France, China, Australia, and Canada. These countries with the help of each other successfully put down the Axis Powers and won the war.
